Tony Abbott MP Federal Member for Warringah Prime Minister from 18.9.13 to 15.9.15s personal popularity has reached a five-month high, according to the latest Newspoll, but Labor maintains a lead over the Coalition of 52% to 48%. The prime ministers dissatisfaction rating of 56% remains higher than his satisfaction rating of 37%, but the numbers reflect a gradual improvement from the low popularity he registered about the time of the attempted leadership spill in February. The Newspoll, published in the Australian newspaper on Tuesday, showed the proportion of voters satisfied with Abbotts performance was four points higher than the previous poll taken three weeks ago, while dissatisfaction was three points lower. Prime Minister Tony AbbottThe Hon. Tony Abbott MP Federal Member for Warringah Prime Minister from 18.9.13 to 15.9.15 is enjoying a personal poll bounce. This is a large improvement for Mr Abbott who trailed Mr Shorten by 11 points in March. Mr Abbott’s personal rating also increased to a seven-month high of 37 per cent, although a majority (56 per cent) of voters continue to disapprove of his performance. Via smh.com.au

The company that conducts opinion polling for Newspoll will be shut down at the end of June, with Galaxy Research taking over its work. Galaxy Research, which has conducted opinion polls for News Corp’s metropolitan mastheads, will take over operations for Newspoll, which will continue to run fortnightly in The Australian.
